International Images

Congratulations to AECOM designers Mayra Cabre, Martha Lara, Rafael Mejia and Reynaldo Tefel for their outstanding photography and successful entries in the 2009 AIA Miami International Photography Contest. Our team in Miami consistently enters and wins accolades in this program, and this year is no different. However, this year the award has extra gravitas, as the entries will be featured in a special exhibit at the 2010 AIA National Convention (hosted in Miami) and were part of the Miami Celebrate Architecture 2009 exhibition. The competition was and is open each year to the general public and amateur photographers. Professional photographers are not eligible. The subject matter must have an architectural theme or must contain some element of the built environment, and the location of images is unrestricted as you can see from the range of our AECOM team's entries. Cayman Commendations

The Cayman International School on Grand Cayman finished its final phase of construction in May and has received two Design Awards from the AIA, an Honor Award for built work from the State of Florida and the Caribbean Region, and an Excellence in Design Award for built work from the local Miami Chapter of the AIA. AECOM was responsible for masterplanning, architectural design, full MEP design, and structural design of the multipurpose building as well as full interior design for the project. This 9-acre private school campus is one project of many that AECOM has been involved with on this 500-acre mixed-use development. According to the AIA, "The Design Awards are given each year to AIA Florida/Caribbean members to encourage excellence in architecture, to elevate public consciousness of good design, and to recognize those owners, designers, and contractors whose work enriches the built environment."
