Brisbane Busway

A team from AECOM's Brisbane studio won the Award of Excellence in Landscape Planning from the Asia Pacific arm of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) for their work on the Queensland Government's Eastern Busway project. The 20-kilometre busway will be the eastern link in Brisbane's world-class busway network, reducing travel times for thousands of commuters. We worked with TransLink and Aurecon to provide urban design, landscape and visual assessment expertise for the project. "A high standard of detailed design in elements such as entry plazas, retaining walls and noise barriers ensures the busway works at a functional level, while high-quality landscape treatments and planting themes reinforce the character of the local areas where they are located," says Project Manager Lynn Sorrell. The first stage of the Eastern Busway opened in August 2009. (Sketch by Munggorn Chaijaroenmaitre)

Largest LEED

A new headquarters building for a Fortune 100 company in Shanghai, China, is a state of the art corporate campus comprised of five buildings. The client has set aggressive targets for energy-efficiency and greenhouse gas reductions. Designed by AECOM to achieve USGB LEED certification, the new headquarters became the largest LEED-certified building in China, before exceeding expectations and reaching LEED Silver Certification. The principles behind the design of the campus are based upon best sustainable practices to create an energy-efficient, market-driven building which promotes a healthy workplace. Following the principle categories outlined by USGBC, the campus has strategically targeted areas within each category that are cost effective and that bring the best value to the project.
